Get out under the stars and learn how to capture the celestial beauty with your camera.

Astrophotography is Landscape photography in essence, but requires special equipment. For this class you will need a wide or super-wide angle lens. Feel free to bring any prime lenses (fixed focal length) you have, but wide angle really shines fro night time sky photos. You also need a shutter release cable for your DSLR – and this is a MUST, as sharp images of the moon and stars are impossible without it. If you're not sure what shutter release cable your camera uses, contact me and I'll let you know. You also need a tripod that is strong enough to hold your camera and lens. We will provide you with a special mount that will allow you to track the stars as they pass overhead. This special mount attaches to the head of out tripod, whether it's a ball head or pan head. WE NEED TO KNOW WHAT CAMERA YOU'LL BE USING AHEAD OF TIME TO MAKE SURE THE MOUNT WE PROVIDE WILL FIT YOUR CAMERA!!! If you have a laptop with photo-editing software, be sure to bring it with you, as I'll use the daylight hours coaching you how to improve your night-time images (if need be).

I also recommend bringing your favorite source of caffeine, as the astral photography workshop takes place late at night!
